26: When teachers experience racism in schools: An interview with Miss A

Unlearnsomethingpod Episode 27

*** TRIGGER WARNING *** This episode contains references to personal experiences of racism in schools.

Welcome to Episode 26 of the Unlearnsomething podcast. Today, we have a candid interview with Miss A. Miss A is an expert primary school teacher, education consultant and university lecturer in teacher training. She shares her experiences of racism in her place of employment and how she took action. We are so grateful that Miss A wanted to share her experiences and we hope that this episode will help others who might be experiencing the same discrimination.

Racism in schools in entirely unacceptable and teachers need to be safeguarded too. Schools have a duty of care to protect all staff as well. This is a real person's lived experience and not up for debate. This is why we admonish anyone who refuses to acknowledge that racism exists in our communities all up and down the country. And **** yes, we are angry!
