Jun 13, 2024 Episode 29

Hello everyone!

It has been a while since we have been in the studio but Miss S and Miss D are back in full effect. We've had a rejuvenating half term and we are ready to rock the last half term of the academic year here in the UK.

In this episode, Miss S shares her experiences and reflections from the recent 'Policing and The Black Child Conference', held on May 18th at the University of East London. A partnership between the Alliance of Police Accountability and the PIEL Centre, University of East London. The conference delved into important discussions surrounding the experiences of Black children in their interactions with the Metropolitan Police.

The day was solution focussed seeking ways to protect Black children and young people from racial profiling and adultification and to support Black children's experience of systemic police racism.  Ensuring a trauma-informed approach is reflected in safeguarding policies is critical. And an opportunity to develop a new monitoring, scrutiny and oversight framework.
